Basketball

The Black Prince Trust has developed into a thriving hub for basketball over the last decade. We have experienced significant growth and formed partnerships with some of the biggest brands in the sport from Nike and Jordan to NBA Europe and London Lions. Our commitment to the local community includes providing free court access and coaching for both children and adults, creating a safe space at one of London’s finest basketball facilities. In the current economic climate we see first-hand the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on people in our local community, making these partnerships and the services the enable us to provide more important and impactful than ever.

The Regal Basketball Court

June 2012, as part of world Basketball festival the Nike brand supported The Black Prince trust by investing in the creation of our iconic flagship Regal Court and have since supported with significant funding for community programmes and coach education for community users, many of whom have secured paid employment both at BPT and in the wider basketball community.

We have since refurbished and revamped the court through support from our partners. On top of further investment from Nike and Jordan, we received overwhelming support from our community through a Crowdfunder in November 2022, matched with generous donations from Sport England, Lambeth Council and Basketball England, while Dynamik Sports Floors have supported BPT with cost-effective installations and maintenance.

Nike & Jordan Partnerships

We have officially partnered with Nike and the Jordan brand since 2021, and they have supported and funded our programs for the local and wider community. We currently run 14 free to user sessions between the ages of 8 – 18+ and provide diverse and inclusive sessions and have over 1000 attendees per month.

Across our community programmes we aim to deliver outcomes aligned to Black Prince Trust’s 4 key Social Outcomes – Participation; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Wellbeing; and Education, Training & Lifelong Learning – and this is evidenced by openly accessible basketball programmes that variously engage children and adults; female-only groups including Muslim-friendly sessions; a pan disability group; and an LGBTQ+ Basketball Club.

We aim to inspire and be known as the most inclusive Basketball community space while helping to develop and grow the sport and increase basketball participation in London and beyond.
