Young Men Create Healthy Relationships Charter Through Partnership with Tender

27th April 2026

Black Prince Trust is proud to celebrate the successful completion of the Tender Healthy Relationships Programme, delivered in partnership with Tender and QPA, a charity that works with young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence by promoting healthy, respectful relationships. Through creative and engaging programmes, Tender empowers young people to build confidence, challenge harmful attitudes and develop the skills needed to form positive relationships.

The six-week programme concluded at the beginning of April and saw a consistent group of young people attend weekly sessions focused on healthy relationships, communication, personal boundaries, respect and emotional wellbeing. Through open discussions, creative learning and personal reflection, participants explored what healthy relationships look like and developed valuable life skills that they can take forward into everyday life.

Working with Tender to Promote Healthy Relationships

Tender’s approach creates safe spaces where young people can openly discuss topics that are often difficult to navigate. Throughout the programme, participants were encouraged to think critically about respect, communication, consent, self-awareness and the importance of setting healthy boundaries.

The sessions challenged stereotypes, encouraged honest conversations and helped participants develop practical tools to recognise healthy and unhealthy behaviours in relationships. As the weeks progressed, the young people grew in confidence and became increasingly willing to share their thoughts, experiences and perspectives with one another.

By working alongside QPA and Tender, Black Prince Trust was able to offer a meaningful programme that supported not only the personal development of the young people involved, but also helped foster a culture of empathy, respect and understanding across our wider community.

Creating the Black Prince Trust Healthy Relationships Charter

One of the most powerful outcomes of the programme came during the final sessions, when the young men worked together to create the Black Prince Trust Healthy Relationships Charter.

Developed by Charley, Junior, Ade, Paulo and all the young men who took part in the programme, the charter captures the key messages and values that resonated most strongly throughout the six weeks:

Black Prince Trust Healthy Relationships Charter

  • Be aware of your own feelings and boundaries.
  • Respect ourselves and others. We all experience emotions.
  • Always communicate. Talk about your true feelings.
  • Be aware of what you say. Everyone could be fighting a battle you don’t know about.
  • If you are struggling to say no or do not want to do something, talk to a trusted adult.
  • Sharing emotion is not a weakness, it is a strength.

The charter reflects the maturity, honesty and personal growth demonstrated by the participants throughout the programme. It serves as a lasting reminder of the lessons learned and the positive conversations that took place over the six weeks.

Positive Outcomes for Young People

At Black Prince Trust, we are committed to supporting young people both on and off the court. Programmes like Tender Healthy Relationships provide opportunities for participants to develop confidence, resilience and greater self-awareness while equipping them with skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

We are incredibly proud of the openness shown by the young men throughout the programme and the progress they made during the process. Their willingness to engage with challenging topics, support one another and contribute to meaningful discussions helped create a positive and supportive environment for everyone involved.

Looking Ahead

We would like to thank our partners at Tender for their expertise, support and commitment in delivering such an impactful programme.

Following the success of this cohort, Black Prince Trust is looking forward to delivering another Healthy Relationships programme with a different group of young people in the next quarter, ensuring that more young people have the opportunity to take part in these important conversations and develop valuable life skills.

Together, we remain committed to creating opportunities that help young people build confidence, strengthen relationships and reach their full potential.
