2nd August
The Black Prince Trust was proud to host the 2nd Annual Let It Fly Tournament, a fast-rising event that’s quickly becoming a staple in our basketball calendar.
This year, seven competitive teams came together to battle it out for the trophy and bragging rights. The energy was high from the opening tip-off, with every team bringing intensity, skill, and passion that truly showcased the strength of London’s basketball community.
Representing the heart of BPT, our very own Regal team—comprised of regular session attendees—took centre stage. The team was brought together and coached by our Basketball Development Officer, Marvin Ambrosius, whose leadership guided the squad all the way to the finals. The journey was inspiring, with the Regal team showing resilience, teamwork, and pride in representing the community.
The final game was a showdown to remember. Despite an incredible fight, the Regal team fell short against Dezreel’s team, who ultimately claimed the trophy. The matchup was a true battle and captured exactly what the Let It Fly Tournament is all about: competition, community, and culture.
The success of this year’s event builds on the foundation set in the very first Let It Fly Classic, which celebrated youth talent and created opportunities for players to shine on a bigger stage. Now in its second year, the tournament has evolved into a BPT tradition, one that we are committed to growing each season.
As we look ahead to next year, the question is already buzzing: Who will take the trophy home in 2026?
One thing is certain — the Let It Fly Tournament has earned its place as part of the BPT culture, and we can’t wait to welcome the community back for another unforgettable day of basketball.
