BPT was delighted to host the first Schools Football Tournament in partnership with the Oval Cluster in Lambeth, marking what we hope will become an annual event.
This year, eight teams took part, including four boys’ teams and four girls’ teams from St Mark’s, Vauxhall, Walnut Tree Walk, and St Stephen’s. The tournament provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to enjoy competitive football, represent their schools, and build positive relationships with other young people from across the cluster.
Despite plans for a larger event, the recent heatwave meant that we had to postpone the full tournament programme. However, we were pleased that the schools that were able to attend could still take part in a friendly competition and enjoy a day of football.
Congratulations go to Walnut Tree Walk, who were crowned champions of both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments. Their players demonstrated great teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination throughout the day.
We would like to thank all the schools, staff, and pupils who took part and helped make the event such a success. Thank you to pupils from Lilian Baylis who were vital in keeping the day running supporting us with refereeing. We are already looking forward to hosting a full Schools Football Tournament in October and hope to welcome even more teams and supporters.
SEND Football Taster Session
A few weeks before, our partners at Fulham Football Foundation delivered a fun and inclusive SEND football taster session for eight schools from the Brixton and Windmill Cluster. Although the weather conditions were challenging, pupils had a fantastic time developing their skills, taking part in activities, and enjoying the opportunity to play football in a supportive environment.
We would like to thank Fulham Football Foundation and all the participating schools for helping make the day such a positive experience for everyone involved.
