On the 13th June, we ran our first BPT fundraising 5aside tournament, in order to raise money for our football programmes on site. A range of our partners and supporters entered teams into the competition, including Alvarez and Marsal, Azets, Claremont Communications, Convera, TriNorth, and The Jolly Gardeners. These six teams competed in a round robin tournament to fight for the first ever BPT Summer Trophy!
Despite the scorching conditions, the tournament was played in amazing spirit, with all teams putting in a fantastic effort. Following the group stages, Alvarez and Marsal ended up facing Convera in a hotly contested final. Alvarez and Marsal emerged as the eventual winners, beating Convera 2-0.
With such a great mix of organisations, the tournament had a positive atmosphere throughout the day, with many of our BPT community members supporting the teams by participating in the tournament as well. We also held a raffle at the end of the day, with many local partners donating prizes, including Surrey Cricket, The Foundry and The Jolly Gardeners.
A massive thank you to all the organisations who entered a team and got their staff over to BPT for the afternoon. Thanks to your team entry and your generous donations on the day, we raised over £2000, which will go directly towards our free football provision here on site. This includes the brilliant sessions run by Sports Fun 4 All, who supported us with the delivery of the event, providing referees for all the matches.
An extra thank you as well to the Jolly Gardeners, who kindly hosted us after the tournament, putting on a selection of lovely food and drinks. Following the success of this event, we look forward to holding the next one very soon!
