Black Prince Trust Reaffirms Commitment to London Living Wage as part of Living Wage Week 2024

8th November 2024

Here at Black Prince Trust we believe in supporting everyone in our community, and that includes our wonderful team who work so hard to understand how we can best provide for people and to ensure a high quality experience for everyone who comes to use our site. That is why we are committed to paying all staff above the London Living Wage.

Though we have long been a Living Wage employer on principle, in February this year we registered formally with the Living Wage Foundation alongside 15,000 other employers to firmly tether our commitment to paying staff above the London Living Wage.

The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate based on the cost of living. It is voluntarily paid by over 15,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs – like the weekly shop, or a surprise trip to the dentist.

As many of our services are designed to ensure the social benefits of sport and physical activity are not out of reach to those struggling with the cost of living, and our food programme directly meets the needs of many who might be struggling, we are determined to ensure that our staff are not left behind too. We have already made the necessary adjustments following the increase announced by Living Wage Foundation on October 23rd to reaffirm our commitment to this core principle.

CEO Richard Joyce said “We are proud to celebrate Living Wage Week for the first time as an accredited employer. We firmly believe that all staff everywhere should be paid at least the Living Wage to support their wellbeing while the cost of living continues to increase. We exist to support our community, and our dedicated team are a vital part of what makes the community at Black Prince Trust so healthy and vibrant.”
