Basketball Strategy

At “The Black Prince Trust” (BPT) we believe that basketball has the power to make a difference to communities geographically around “The Hub”. Situated within Lambeth’s Princes ward, bounded by the Thames between Lambeth Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge within easy reach of both Vauxhall and Waterloo stations. The Hub is home to Lambeth’s premier basketball facility.

The Regal and Jordan courts are already well used by the basketball communities in and around Lambeth. On site management looks at ways to develop existing community, charitable and corporate activities supported by key partners to benefit the internal and external growth of basketball within Lambeth and the sounding areas. Working alongside key basketball partners BPT aims to develop a clear player pathway from free community based activities into structured competitive basketball meeting the needs of the player and the community.

The Regal and Jordan

At The Black Prince Trust we are proud to facility manage two of London’s most illustrious basketball courts. The Regal and The Jordan have an ingrained history within London’s basketball community. Players come from all parts of London to play in the iconic courts. Some of the greatest legends in the history of basketball like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant have left their imprint in our basketball community inspiring generations to come and making the courts some of the most popular and well known in London.

Partners

To maximise the impact of basketball, BPT will work alongside community partners with basketball expertise. These partners include:

Nike & Jordan

In 2021, the Black Prince Trust renewed its partnership with Nike & Jordan, with two of the biggest names in the world of basketball commiting to provide BPT with even more opportunities to grow the basketball offering on site.

Their involvement not only helps with delivery of sessions, but also by contributing to BPT’s commitment to Education, Training, and Lifelong Learning. As part of this exciting 2-year partnership, throughout July and August 2022, BPT, along with support from London Basketball Association, will be delivering 50 free level 1 and level 2 basketball coaching and officiating courses.

Improvements to the iconic Regal and Jordan courts will also be in the plans to improve the on court experience for all visitors, thanks to the great support of Nike & Jordan.
